Permata Tech grew out of a straightforward observation: small business owners in Malaysia were watching AI tools spread across the wider market, but most of what was on offer felt built for larger operations — complex setups, steep pricing, and consultants who preferred to speak in technical terms rather than plain ones.
Our founders had spent years working alongside businesses of different sizes across the Klang Valley and saw the same pattern repeating. A shop owner spending three hours a week on the same email responses. A small clinic whose patient records existed in three different spreadsheets. A food business generating useful sales data it had never had time to look at properly.
The idea behind Permata Tech was simple: find the places where a calm, well-chosen AI tool could make a real difference to someone's working week, and then set it up properly — explaining each step in ordinary language and leaving the owner with something they could actually use on their own.

Permata Tech serves small business owners who are looking to work more efficiently without taking on complex technology projects. Our team has direct experience with the kinds of challenges that come up in Malaysian SMEs — the volume of repetitive customer communications, the difficulty of making sense of sales data scattered across different files, and the general sense that there ought to be a better way of handling the administrative side of running a business.
The AI tools available today are considerably more capable than they were even two years ago.
